Abraham Makai is a native of Dambai, where he was born and lived for so many years before pursuing his career as a military officer in the Ghana Armed forces for twenty-one (21) years. He comes from a very ordinary background but has been able to rise up from the slums into the higher echelons of the Ghanaian society where he can now compete with both the great and mighty. Makai is a typical embodiment of the saying that “your background cannot limit you if you have the zest and will to become great”.
ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
Makai is a product of the Ghana Armed Forces Training School Shai Hills where he successfully passed out as one of the best students of his batch. He has since worked as Military Police where he rose to the rank of Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) and the Military Police Command Sergeant Major at 37 Military Hospital, Accra.
Before his last appointment as Command Sergeant Major of 37 Military Hospital, he had early on served with United Nations Missions in Lebanon (3 times), Liberia (2 times)Cote D’Ivoire (1 once) and DR Congo (once).
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Human Resource Management) and has a broad scope of understanding in various areas as a result of exposure received from both local and international conferences and trainings (peace and security).
Makai is an Information Analysts and also a Security Expert. His last appointment was with International Justice Mission.
CONTRIBUTION TO NDC AND COMMUNITY:
Comrade Makai Abraham's resolve to enter into this contest came as a result of his long standing in the NDC party from its inception in 1992.
Comrade Abraham showed his membership of GOOD STANDING since 2016 when he donated cash amount of Ghc 2,000, one motor bicycle and 150 pieces of plastic chairs to the party for election 2016. He also made his private car available for the Konkomba Team and was personally involved in traversing the length and breadth of the constituency in canvassing votes for the party. In addition, he also organized a mammoth rally on old town park which saw the attendance of prominent party stalwarts like; Hon. Wisdom Gidisu, then PC, Hon. Peter Yaw Awuranyi, then DCE Krachi East
He also marshaled a host of former colleague ex- soldiers into the constituency to ensure a
Stress - free campaign then.
Moreover, Comrade Makai Abraham has been very instrumental in the day-to-day party activities in the constituency. He contributed an amount of Ghc4, 000 towards the recently held constituency elections at Asukawkaw, Ghc1, 000 towards the Branch election, Ghc1,000 towards the Presidential primaries, Ghc1,000 towards the just ended EC limited registration exercise. He has equally been benevolent to countless party members in the constituency since.
Haven grown from a humble beginning from Dambai he has over the period served his people in diverse ways ranging from job acquisition, education through payment of school fees, Health, women and children’s empowerment has always been his priority and all who have known him over some years now can attest to the fact that he is the preferred candidate for the Ticket of National Democratic Congress and possibly having hope to galvanize support from all electorates to ultimately take the seat from the incumbent member of Parliament who is an NPP. His values cannot be underestimated since he has experience both in public, private and in NGO development.
WHAT DOES MAKAI BRING ON BOARD?
When given the nod, Makai seeks to bring development to the doorsteps of the people of Krachi East in the following thematic areas:
PARTY UNITY,
Makai stands for oneness, unity and all-inclusiveness in the party. He would work hard to minimize tribalism to the barest minimum and work hard to ensure that all the party structures work before, during and after elections. It is only with a united that we can wrestle power NPP.
SECURITY:
With vast his experience in peace in security both locally and internationally, Makai has what it takes to promote peaceful co-existence among the people of Krachi East. He believes development can only thrive in a peaceful, secure and safe environment. This is what Makai stands for.
JOBS AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT:
In the past, Makai is known for helping many young people get employment in various sectors in Ghana. He would therefore use the influence of his office as MP and the resources available to him to find jobs for our teaming youth. It is his plan to also empower private individuals especially youth and women who want to go into entrepreneurship with startup capital, training as well as help artisans with the necessary resources to open their own shops.
EDUCATION:
Comrade Makai believes that education is the key to development and this is why he is accredited for paying the fees of so many young people. Therefore if given the nod, he seeks to promote education in Krachi East through innovative packages and programs.
HEALTH:
Indeed “health is wealth”! Makai believes in the vision of JM that heatlh care should be brought to the doorstep of the ordinary Ghanaian. He intends to use his office to work closely with all stakeholders to promote good health among his constituents.
AGRICULTURE:
Makai believes agriculture has great potential of enriching the good people of Krachi East if the right programs are put in place. If given the nod, Makai would prioritize agriculture to make it attractive especially to youth which can reduce the unemployment situation.
Makai is our best candidate if we really want to win the seat from NPP. He has experience, can attract floating voters and has the character and integrity to lead the people of Krachi East.
